Congratulation on Your New Web Site! Now What?

You've heard about the infinite promises of the Internet, the great potential of putting everything on "auto-pilot" and making millions while you're on vacation! You may have even invested a few dollars on books or videos that promise to reveal all the secrets of Internet marketing. And even if you don't know it yet, you suspect that all those promises were only that: PROMISES.

If this sounds familiar, stop wasting your time! Give yourself a real chance to profit from the Internet by learning how to make e-commerce and the Internet work for you.

The fact is that e-commerce and the Internet can work if 1) You have something to offer, 2) You know how to use it, and 3) You have the discipline and patience to let your campaign build momentum.

First, you must realize that the Internet is not made up of people who are looking to buy anything at any price. On the contrary, the Internet is often synonymous with free or inexpensive. With comparative shopping directories and the instant competition between the millions of global sites, the Internet is often the best place to shop FOR LESS. Does this mean that there is nothing to be gained from the Internet? Far from it. With hundred of thousands of people being added to the net every day, the possibilities are mind boggling.

Questions you should ask yourself:

Is your offer (product or service) strong and compelling?

Did you think it through? Is your concept solid?

Do you know who your customers are?

Do you have your own URL and web site?

How will you be marketing your product or service?

Can you deliver on what you promise?

Do you have the time to invest in this effort?

Do you have the patience to make it work?

Let's look at the three top issues when marketing on the Internet:

1) Do you have a product or service that you can market on the Internet? What you have to offer must be unique in order to really grab the attention of web-surfers. Always look at what your customers are looking for, and what makes your product unique. However, do not confuse unique with re-inventing a better mousetrap. The way you present and sell your product is often key to its success on the Internet. For example, does your web-site style and content support what you are offering? Do you have a “money back guarantee” on what you are offering? Do you have Q&A, an 800 number for people to call, a stated policy for returns, etc?

2) Do you know how to use the tools for marketing on the Internet? Is your site optimized? Are you making the most of the Meta tags? Have you identified which keywords or terms to use and how many of them you should list? Are these keywords so popular that you are competing with hundred of thousands of sites or are they so unique that no one will search by these terms? Do you know where to submit, when and how often? Are you aware of the cost of getting listed in some search engines (including Yahoo) and know ways around it? Do you know what a PPC or PPA is? Have you heard of affiliate marketing, sponsoring, etc?

3) Do you have the budget to market your product? Unless you are McDonalds or Pepsi— spending millions of dollars on banner ads and sponsoring thousands of sites—most of us have a limited budget to advertise (and sometime no budget at all). Does this mean that you cannot effectively promote your site on the net and get your business going? Not at all. As a matter of fact, some of the most popular sites on the Internet are very simple sites that have been launched by people on a no-budget budget. These people have been successful because they learned how marketing on the Internet works.

If you want to "lift" your site to another level, then you need to contact us (or any other marketing expert for that matter), because with a minimum investment you will likely see dramatic changes.

However, you don't have to believe us, and frankly, we have no desire to give people empty promises or impractical advice. We pride ourselves in being honest and, sometimes, turn people down when we feel we cannot help them. For us, integrity is more important than making a quick buck.
